HFF Architectural Finishes in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, have created a completely “green” door using Xanita’s X-Core.The door is manufactured using 32mm X-Core laminated with 6mm bamboo skins that are also available in 1mm or 3mm options. Bamboo skins are applied to the X-Core and the finished door is polished, without requiring a veneer. The bamboo skins are supplied by Teragren, a US-based manufacturer of fine bamboo flooring, panels, veneer and parquet butcher block. Like Xanita, Teragren believe in adhering to stringent, environmental specifications and in promoting green building. All of their bamboo products come from sustainable harvests in China and they believe in paying farmers and their families fair-market prices for raw materials.Aside from its attractiveness, the door is completely eco-friendly, being entirely VOC-free and manufactured from two sustainable products: namely X-Core and bamboo. A lighter version of the door can be made using 25mm X-Core laminated with 3mm bamboo skins. In fact, the only thing not green about this door is the colour!
