Xanita employee produces stunning table design

Christopher Rinquest, a Xanita employee, designed a completely eco-friendly table from X-Board Kraft and the cores from rolls of laminate, for the Xanita café at the Xanita head office in Cape Town, South Africa.

The table, which was produced by the Xanita factory contingent, consisted of a circular surface made from 42mm X-Board Kraft, cut into a circle using a jigsaw. The surface was supported by the internal cores from rolls of X-Board laminate, which were secured with adhesive.  The cores were cut to form half-moons using a circular saw.

A matrix-like design was created for the table’s “centre piece”. However, should the need arise, the central construction is removable to make space for a projector in a more formal meeting. The table is a good example of a lightweight, yet sturdy furniture piece and could also be produced from either X-Board or X-Board Plus and finished with a suitable edging, depending on the end-user requirements.
