Freefold furniture provides green alternative at the Save Water Save Energy expo |
|
Collaborate Design PR and Marketing Group joined forces with Toby Horrocks Architecture to design and produce Sustainability Victoria’s Resource Smart stand for the Save Water Save Energy Expo in Melbourne, Australia from the 17-19 October 2008.
The main highlight of the stand was the Freefold furniture, designed by Toby Horrocks Architecture. Freefold 01, made from Xanita’s X-Board, is an environmentally friendly kraft-based box that can be arranged as a bookshelf, room divider, storage wall or bench. Strong and lightweight, it is fully printable and easy to assemble and flat pack, with no need for toxic glues and adhesives. X-Board is made from post-consumer paper and sugar-cane bagasse waste and can also be disposed of in paper recycling bins.
The stand was developed to simply convey a complex message. People were invited to interact with a ‘Savings Market’ by wandering around and looking at the areas of their home where they could make sustainable changes. The goal was to promote a greener lifestyle, and the stand assisted in demonstrating to consumers that eco-alternatives do exist for almost every aspect of their lives.
