Bear Shopfitting in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is using Xanita’s X-Core as filler for decorative concrete. X-Core is first coated in concrete, then polished. It can be made to imitate the appearance of granite or marble, but at a significantly better price than authentic stone. An advantage of using X-Core is that the weight of the finished product is reduced by up to 60%, consequently reducing labour and transportation costs. In an application such as the one shown below, only two men are needed to move and lift the product, whereas in the past up to six men were required to achieve a similar feat. The concrete creates a waterproof barrier and the panels can be used either internally or externally.
