Melamine-faced X-Board Plus

xb_26_38mm_melamine_149pix.jpg Primepanels (New Zealand) and Sharp Plywood (Australia) are now manufacturing melamine-faced X-Board Plus offering furniture manufacturers & cabinet makers huge weight-savings and a board with up to 80% recycled kraft fibre core content.

X-Board Plus lightweight panels for the Boat Building Industry

Xanita has transformed humble kraft fibre taken from post-consumer paper-waste by using it in the development of a range of engineered composite panels suitable for a multitude of industries.

X-Board™ Plus consist of a fully repulpable, natural fibre core which achieves “cradle-to-cradle” benefits. Engineered with the environment in mind, X-Board Plus consists of a proprietary VOC free kraft paper core, known as X-Core™, which contains no formaldehyde, ethylene or PVC.

Xanita first launched X-Board Plus to the South African yacht building industry: Southern Wind Shipyard, the prestigious Cape Town-based composite construction experts of semi-custom sailing yachts, recently designed and manufactured interior furniture for their luxury yachts using X-Board Plus.

Ultimate Veneering presses veneered plywood directly to Xanita's "X-Core" material, turning it into what's branded as X-Board Plus. Each module is assembled off the boat, with allowances for final fitting. Southern Wind Shipyard then converts the boards into finished products for their yachts.

Duncan Yacht Interiors, Cape Town, is another company that has discovered that X-Board Plus is the
perfect material for use in the construction of yacht furniture.
In their manufacturing process Xanita's X-Core highly crush-resistant honeycomb panels are laminated directly with Formica and then “vacuum bagged” or pressed. This is an extremely cost effective method for producing lightweight furniture
. These panels offer overall weight savings when compared with “solid” plywood panels. This ultimately translates into a faster and lighter yacht. The end result is a picture of luxury and elegance, as shown by the photograph below (courtesy of Southern Wind Shipyard).
